How Wesley’s Catering has Navigated Catering Changes During COVID-19

Like all caterers and restaurants, revenues for Wesley’s Catering have taken a huge hit since the COVID 19 pandemic started dropping by around 80%.

In the face of this, Wesley’s Catering realized we had to pivot quickly as our catered events were canceled in droves. As a result, we came up with two initiatives to help offset lost catering income.

First, we built a new online ordering platform for pre-ordered carry-out ready-to-serve meals. That worked really well for us week after week as the buzz grew about our carry out meals. That took us through mid-July when restrictions were lightened a bit.

Our second initiative next which received good responeses was outdoor socially distanced dining at Robin Hills on Thursday nights. Again, as the news traveled the number of people attending and enjoying the outdoor patios and food and drinks increased.

We were also able to cater some small outdoor events over the summer so that has helped.

But as the leaves have now fallen in Michigan and snow is upon us, we’ll soon be going back to our first initiative of pre-ordered carry-out ready-to-serve meals. Please keep an eye out as we’ll be making these meals available again soon!
